4/12/2007 Schaefer contributed two assists for the host Senators in their 6-3 win over Pittsburgh on Wednesday night in the opening game of the Eastern Conference first-round series. The left wing hadn't registered a point in four straight postseason games. Schaefer has four goals and 12 assists in 37 career playoff appearances. He had 12 goals and 34 assists for 46 points in 77 regular-season games with Ottawa this season.
4/1/2007 Schaefer contributed two assists for the visiting Senators in their 5-2 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday. It was the left wing's 10th multipoint game and his second straight as he had two assists in Friday's win over Montreal. Schaefer's goal made it 3-1. It was Schaefer's first goal since Feb. 17. Schaefer went 12 games without scoring.
3/7/2007 Although Schaefer missed Monday's practice, he was able to return on Tuesday for the host Senators' 5-4 shootout loss to Pittsburgh. The left wing, who suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday's shootout loss to Chicago, contributed an assist. It was his first point in his last five games. The veteran left wing will earn $1.7 million next season and $2.1, $2.3 million and $2.3 million in the remaining seasons of the new deal. Schaefer earned $988,000 last season when he posted career highs in goals (20), assists (30) and penalty minutes (40) while playing all 82 games for the Senators.
