Minister of Education Shirley Bond participates in an ActNow BC “energy burst” with more than 130 parents from around the province during the second annual Parent Congress. As part of the Congress, the new Parent Information Network (PIN) was launched allowing parents of B.C. students in kindergarten through Grade 12 access to educational resources through LearnNow BC. $4.2 MILLION APPROVED FOR SEISMIC UPGRADE IN SURREY
SURREY – The Province will spend $4.2 million to seismically upgrade Dr. F.D. Sinclair elementary school, Surrey-Tynehead MLA Dave S. Hayer announced.
MEADOWBROOK ELEMENTARY GETS SEISMICALLY SAFE GYMNASIUM
COQUITLAM – The Province has approved more than $300,000 for the seismic upgrade of the gymnasium at Meadowbrook elementary, Port Moody-Westwood MLA Iain Black announced.
NEWLY RENOVATED MONTEREY MIDDLE SCHOOL SAFER, GREENER
VICTORIA – A refurbished Monterey middle school, complete with seismic upgrades and environmentally friendly renovations, will ensure a safer learning environment for students and staff, Community Services Minister and Oak Bay-Gordon Head MLA Ida Chong announced.

PROVINCE MATCHES FUNDING FOR RAISE-A-READER CAMPAIGN
NANAIMO – The Province is contributing $19,704 in matching funding to the Nanaimo Daily News 2007 Raise-a-Reader campaign, Premier Gordon Campbell and Nanaimo-Parksville MLA Ron Cantelon announced.
