What's So Great About Our Art Contest?

The Calendar Club art contest is a fun way to learn about energy and the environment and to show other kids (and adults, too!) just how easy it is to reduce energy consumption. It's a simple fact: the less energy we use, the less pollution we create and the cleaner our air is to breathe.

Rules? Of course there are rules!

It wouldn't be a contest if there were no rules, but they are pretty simple:

  • you have to be between 6 and 13 years old to enter the contest
  • your artwork has to be created as part of a school-run contest and must be submitted by your school
  • your artwork has to focus on how Canadians can be energy efficient at home, at school and on the road
  • artwork by one student from each province and territory will be picked to be included in the calendar

Sound interesting? The first thing to do is make sure your teacher knows about this contest and wants to make it a classroom project – that's really important. Then start thinking and learning about energy and the environment. Once you have an idea, start drawing!

Everyone who enters their school's Calendar Club art contest receives a participation prize. If your artwork is picked for the calendar, you will also receive an exciting prize package and a laminated and mounted copy of your artwork (a copy is also provided for your school). Most importantly, you will be joining thousands of other kids across Canada who are taking action to protect the environment – and encouraging others do the same.
