Problem: |
The advertisement
card on the affected Secure Advantage V child restraint systems has an incorrect weight
range specified for the rear facing position. The card reads 5 to 30 lbs. and it should
read 5 to 22 lbs. The statement of compliance labels affixed to the shell and the
instructions correctly stated the weight range for the rear facing position as being from
5 to 22 lbs. The card on display at a retailer outlet could mislead a consumer into buying
the unit because of the incorrect weight range specified for the rear facing mode. This
card is removed and discarded by the consumer prior to the use of the seat. |
|
|
Background: |
Transport Canada
initially identified the problem at a retail outlet, and notified Evenflo. Evenflo and
Transport Canada have received consumer complaints on this matter from the Pacific
Infant/Child Restraint Advisory Committee and other consumers. Evenflo has fully
cooperated with Transport Canada in rectifying the problem. All advertisement cards on car
seats currently available for sale at retail stores have been corrected. |
|
|
Consumer Recourse: |
If a consumer has
purchased the restraint based on incorrect weight range specified on the advertisement
card, he can return the restraint system to the retailer for a refund. For additional
information, the consumer can contact the Evenflo Customer Service Centre at 1 800
233-5921. The labels on the restraint system and the
instructions for the restraint must be followed.
