| Problem:

During production of the above-noted model, a combination
child restraint and high back booster cushion, the tether strap adjuster mechanism was
improperly threaded. The improperly threaded adjuster will allow tether strap webbing
slippage during a collision. |

| Background: |
The manufacturer identified the improper threading
of the adjusting device during a quality control inspection. With the adjuster
improperly threaded, the restraint system, when used in the child restraint mode,
would not meet the dynamic performance requirements of the Motor Vehicle Restraint
Systems and Booster Cushions Regulations (RSSR), Schedule III, subsection 13. |

The improperly threaded tether strap adjuster will not prevent the tether strap webbing from slipping during a collision. When used in the child restraint mode, this condition will allow a child's head and upper body to move further forward in a moderate or severe frontal collision. This could possibly result in head contact with the interior of the vehicle and thus increase the potential for occupant injury. In essence, the improperly threaded tether would provide close to the same result as if no tether strap was used.
At this time, the company and Transport Canada have not received any public complaint of a tether slippage problem, occurring either as a result of installing the unit, or as a result of a motor vehicle collision.

and Company Action:

The company has taken corrective action by issuing a press release on the Canada Newswire Service on September 09, 2002. The company has an instruction sheet available that will be sent out upon request to consumers to rectify the situation. The corrective action requires a re-threading of the tether strap adjuster.
