Montréal-Senneterre train (the Abitibi)

The Abitibi is the best way to explore northern Québec. Crossing lakes and forests, it carries you in comfort to such destinations as La Tuque, Sanmaur, Parent, Clova and Senneterre. You can board the train in busy downtown Montréal and get off in the middle of the forest - even where there is no scheduled stop - simply by requesting a special stop.

Note that the Abitibi and Saguenay travel together between Montréal and Hervey Junction. The Saguenay then separates and heads north to Jonquière.

Please note that station locations on some Google maps may not be entirely accurate. We are currently verifying the exact locations of all our stations.

The class and services available

Comfort class (economy) is the only class available on this route. Follow the above link for a description of cars and services available, including baggage service.

Connections and stations

In Montréal, the train station is located in the city centre, making connections easy. The Montréal-Ottawa, Montréal-Toronto and Montréal-Québec City trains will take you right downtown in Canada's most-visited cities! Two trains also head eastwards: the Chaleur goes to Percé and Gaspé, and the Ocean to Moncton and Halifax.

Schedules, fares and reservations

The train is more economical and comfortable than other modes of transportation. Who really enjoys driving on the forest roads of northern Québec? You can obtain a one-way ticket between La Tuque and Parent for as little as $20! (Comfort Supersaver fare, purchase five days in advance, taxes extra).

The Abitibi leaves Montréal on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, arriving in Senneterre in the early evening. It leaves Senneterre on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
