Jasper-Prince Rupert train (the Skeena)


Taking a fabulous 1,160-kilometre (725-mile) journey over two days, the Skeena travels between Jasper National Park in the heart of the superb Canadian Rockies, and Prince Rupert on the Pacific coast. And thanks to an overnight layover in Prince George - don't forget to book a hotel room! - you'll arrive on the Pacific Coast feeling refreshed! The Skeena is a wonderful way to discover the region's scenery, Native culture and other attractions. Welcome aboard!

Classes and services available

Three classes are available. For a description of the services (meals, baggage, etc.) and cars to which you have access, follow the link for the class of your choice:

  • Comfort class (economy), available year-round, lets you discover the region at the best possible price.
  • Totem class, available only in peak season (from mid-May to late September), includes meals and exclusive access to the superb Park car and its panoramic dome.
  • Totem Deluxe class, also available only in the peak season, includes meals and, as an exclusive benefit, a seat throughout the journey in our new Panorama car, which is fully glass enclosed.

Connections and stations

Schedules, fares and reservations

When you choose Comfort class, you can make a one-way trip between Jasper and Prince Rupert for only $106 (Comfort Supersaver fare, purchase five days in advance, taxes extra).

The Skeena leaves Jasper and Prince Rupert three times per week (on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays). The train stops overnight in Prince George. (Accommodations are not provided by VIA Rail.)
