Industry Canada’s Graphic Standards

Industry Canada’s graphic standards are intended to help Industry Canada publishers, and the suppliers that assist them, to apply the Department’s corporate identity to a variety of formats and media.

The graphic standards consist of the following three sections:

  • Corporate Look: The core element of Industry Canada’s graphic standards is its corporate look — a strong yet flexible identity that embraces all of the Department’s business units and helps Canadians to better understand how the Department touches their lives and the national economy. Use this to apply Industry Canada’s corporate look to your project.
  • FIP Procedures: Industry Canada’s Federal Identity Program (FIP) procedures provide reference information and specifications for applying Industry Canada’s corporate symbols in a range of situations. Use this to find out what symbols are required for your project and how to use them.
  • Symbols: Industry Canada’s corporate symbols are described and illustrated here. Use this for additional background information on the symbols that make up the Department’s corporate identity.

Context

As a publisher at Industry Canada, you must address corporate identity whenever you communicate to internal and external audiences, whether directly, jointly with other federal organizations, or in partnership with non-federal organizations.

Each communications medium and format has corporate identity implications. The resources posted here provide direction for applying the Department’s corporate identity to a wide range of communications materials, from print publications to electronic presentations, displays, exhibits and beyond.

Industry Canada’s graphic standards ensure that departmental communications are clearly and easily recognized as coming from both Industry Canada and the federal government.

The graphic standards for Industry Canada’s corporate identity meet the requirements of the Communications Policy of the Government of Canada, the FIP policy and the FIP Manual.

The FIP at Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat coordinates and provides overall direction for the Government of Canada’s corporate identity. The Communications and Marketing Branch manages Industry Canada’s corporate identity within the framework of FIP.

FIP was established to ensure consistent identification for all federal organizations, programs and services, and to ensure that Government of Canada communications products treat both official languages equally, consistent with the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Official Languages Act. When communicating messages to internal or external audiences in any medium, be sure to respect official languages policy. For more information on official languages, contact Human Resources Branch.
