CARP is Canada's Association for the Fifty-Plus.
|
If you are 50 years or older, CARP is your ticket to savings, an award-winning magazine and a strong national voice!
When Lillian Morgenthau (CARP President) and her husband Murray Morgenthau (Executive Director) started CARP in 1984, it was around their kitchen table with ten friends. Today, more than 400,000 members support CARP's mandate to effectively promote the rights and quality of life of mature Canadians. A non-profit organization, CARP does not receive government operating funding in order to maintain its independence.
CARP stands for Canadian Association of Retired Persons. However, the name no longer describes CARP's membership who are 50 years or older, retired or not. Hence the new descriptor, Canada's Association for the Fifty-Plus. CARP remains, the rest has been retired.
CARP Mission
CARP's mission is to promote and protect the rights and quality of life for older Canadians by:
1) developing practical recommendations to enhance health care, human rights and income;
2) working with government on policy initiatives;
3) providing information on key political and economic issues as well as lifestyle choices;
4) negotiating group benefits and savings on services and products.
