Enhancing Safety and Security: Setting the Stage for Action

Next

The Enhancing Safety and Security for Canadian Seniors: Setting the Stage for Action report focuses on the issue of safety and security for older Canadians. It addresses three specific components of safety and security: injuries, predominantly in relation to falls, elder abuse, and crime.

The report provides an overview of issues affecting vulnerability in later life and highlights key data concerning the incidence, consequences, and issues for action in relation to injury, abuse and crimes against older persons. The report also has a checklist which federal, provincial/territorial and municipal jurisdictions can use to examine their progress in terms of enhancing safety and security for the senior population.
