Environment Canada administers two Acts that address pollution: the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA, 1999) and the pollution provisions of the Fisheries Act. The Region's pollution enforcement function is delivered from the Vancouver Regional Office and district offices located in Prince George, Smithers and Whitehorse in the Yukon. Enforcement officers carry out a comprehensive national and regional program of planned and reactive inspections of facilities and investigations of suspected violations.

alleged violations. Inspections are conducted to verify compliance
with federal environmental legislation, regulations, permit conditions
and orders. CEPA Regulations include: Chlorobiphenyls (PCB) Regulations Fuels Regulations Export & Import of Hazardous Waste Regulations New Substances Notification Regulations
