This report summarizes a select sample of school bus incidents which have occurred in Canada during the years 1989 to 1997. The cases studied were investigated by Transport Canadas Multi-Disciplinary Collision Investigation Teams. Crashes involving serious injuries are over-represented in this case series since it is more likely that these incidents would come to the attention of the teams. The results are discussed in terms of their possible application to the improvement of safety of school buses.
