Dear
Web Friends,
I
am very pleased to welcome you to this Web site, which was specifically designed
to provide information on your national police service. It gives
me great pride to introduce you to this Internet site as the Commanding Officer
of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Quebec.
On
December 1, 2005, I assumed the command of the Royal Canadian Mounted
Police in Quebec intending to follow in the footsteps of my predecessors
and to ensure that the RCMP pursue its ultimate goal: providing safe
homes and safe communities for all Canadians.
You are certainly aware that police work needs to be constantly reassessed to
ensure that communities are adequately served. Rightfully so, as the globalization
of economic activity, technological advances, the elimination of physical barriers,
a judicial system that is undergoing profound changes, and the continuous threat
posed by organized crime and terrorism are but a few of the challenges and environmental
components we now have to deal with. Such was not always the case when I began
my career as a police officer back in 1975.
This being said, in its history, the RCMP has always managed to adjust to the
constant evolution of Canadian society. These challenges simply reinforce our
resolve to remain an internationally renowned police force aiming at nothing
less than excellence in policing.
In this regard, I have made the commitment on behalf of all RCMP employees in
Quebec to maintain, for now and in the years to come, our effective and dynamic
fight against high-level organized crime in an effort to protect the integrity
of the Canadian economy... and to better protect you!
I give you my word that the RCMP will serve the residents of Quebec and south-eastern
region of Ontario to the best of its ability as a police organization of outstanding
reputation.
You are hereby invited to visit our Web site to learn more about the components
of your national police service with its various operational sections and prevention
programs currently available to the public.
Feel free to submit your questions and comments in writing through our email address.
We are looking forward to answering your messages.
Pleasant browsing!
