RE: | Identification of Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Coordinator | ||||||||||||||
As part of the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institution’s (OSFI) ongoing efforts to improve its disaster planning and contingency preparations, it has become evident that there will be significant benefit in having on file the names and contact information for a designated Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Coordinator for all Federally Regulated Financial Institutions (FRFI). Specifically, we are looking for the name of the individual within your organization who would normally lead the development of the business continuity/disaster recovery strategy and related action plans, and who in the event of a disaster would oversee or coordinate the activities of the disaster recovery team in recovering critical business operations and communications. OSFI is requesting that you supply us, on an annual basis, with the name of your Business Continuity or Disaster Recovery co-ordinator, and if one does not already exist, that you please designate one. In addition, OSFI is requesting FRFIs to provide an e-mail address that can be used in the event of a disaster affecting OSFI operations for specific directed emergency communications with each FRFI. The above information will be collected, initially, via a one-time filing. Subsequent updates will be collected using existing returns (OSFI-511: Return of Officers and Appointed Actuary and OSFI-513: Return of Officers, Auditor and Appointed Actuary). Over the next several weeks, OSFI's Compliance Division will be disseminating supplementary information and filing instructions relating to the initial filing and modified forms. If you have any questions relating to the identification of your Business Continuity or Disaster Recovery co-ordinator, please contact:
Thank you very much for your anticipated co-operation in this matter. |
Yours sincerely, | |
