Overview
The Canadian Police College (CPC)* is a federally funded institution under the administration of the RCMP. The CPC, which is a National Police Service, provides over forty advanced and specialized police training courses and workshops in management and law enforcement to senior police personnel at the federal, provincial, regional and municipal levels.

A limited number of law enforcement officers from Canadian government and foreign police agencies also attend CPC courses.

Program Courses
There are two learning branches within CPC: the Police Executive Centre (PexeC) and the Police Sciences School (PSS). PexeC offers courses in police middle management and leadership learning, and police executive continuous learning. The PSS concentrates on advanced technical training in investigative techniques, forensic identification, high-tech crime, and explosives investigation.

The CPC also offers distance learning courses via the Internet and other methods to police investigators, particularly in the area of Internet investigations and intelligence analysis.

Research Activities
The CPC conducts a program of research studies in police management. Research-based knowledge is disseminated to the police community through publications in journals and via other academic channels.

Library
The CPC Library is the main research and reference centre for the Canadian police community and is also the RCMP departmental library. The library’s full catalogue, including a number of electronic databases, is available online for researching information on police-related subjects. Canadian police personnel are able to make requests for the loan of books and videos by using the “shopping cart” feature of the online catalogue.

CPC Seminar Series
The CPC Library coordinates a “Trends and Challenges in Canadian Policing” seminar series. The purpose of the series is to educate, inform, and stimulate thought on a wide range of issues influencing policing and its future.

Facilities
The CPC Facilities include numerous classrooms and syndicate rooms equipped with audio visual equipment, two video teleconference facilities, four computer classrooms, a 64-seat theatre, an executive conference centre, training/scenario buildings, and fitness facilities including gymnasium, weight room and pool. Also available are bedroom accommodations for 184, a full meal service for up to 250 people, and a licensed student lounge. All facilities are available for rent to other government organizations when not needed for CPC core courses.
