Atlantic Canada - like you've never seen

East of Québec lies the Atlantic region of Canada, comprising Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. Together, these three provinces form a world on their own, diversified with unique ecosystems and various cultural communities.

Travel aboard the Ocean to Halifax, Nova Scotia to commence your Atlantic adventure. A city basking in maritime tradition, Halifax is renowned for its warm hospitality, as well as its urban activity. There's no need to stay in the city though. Travel in almost any direction by bus, car, or even bicycle to see some of the most magnificent coastline sights in the country.

Travel east and venture to the magical island of Cape Breton, where French and Celtic influence have formed a culture famous throughout the country. Hike through the national park on one of the many incredible hiking trails, or follow the Cabot Trail, circling the Cape Breton Highland National Park and leading down to sea level, where you can even go whale watching!

Travel west of Halifax and make a stop in Peggy's Cove to see the magnificent lighthouse originally built in 1868. Reportedly named after the sole survivor of a shipwreck, Peggy's Cove may very well be one of the most photographed places in Canada. Keep heading west and discover the Bay of Fundy. Where else can you watch whales from cliffs 600 feet high in the morning and then see their playground turn into beach six hours later as the highest tides in the world retreat?

New Brunswick is the heart of the Acadian people - and the cradle of Cajun culture. Travel to Moncton, either aboard the Ocean, or for the outdoor adventurer, by bike, where you can swim in some of the nicest - and warmest! - beaches in Canada. Learn all about Acadian history at the University of Moncton's Acadian Museum (web site currently French only) or travel down to Saint John where you can visit the oldest museum in Canada that is still operational.
