Canada cooperates with Pacific Rim countries through the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). APEC has a number of Working Groups one of which, the Energy Working Group, deals with broad energy issues. Working Groups are also sub-divided into Expert Groups. As a member of the Expert Group on New and Renewable Energy Technology, OERD represents Canadian areas of interest, exchanges information and seeks opportunities for cooperation related to new and renewable energy S&T.
