Ms. Eloise E. Opheim from Saskatchewan was appointed to the CSTMC Board of Trustees

OTTAWA, July 17, 2006 – Eloise E. Opheim, of Saskatoon, has been appointed by the Honourable Beverley J. Oda, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Status of Women, as part-time member of the Board of Trustees of the Canada Science and Technology Museum Corporation.

Ms. Opheim is the founder of PRIDE CANADA (Parents’ Resource Institute for Drug Education) and was its Executive Director from 1981 to 2001. She has more than twenty years of experience serving as Chairperson and Director in more than ten international, national, local non-profit and government boards.

Over the years, Ms. Opheim has earned several prestigious awards such as the Order of Canada in 1991, the Saskatoon’s Citizen of the Year Award in1998, the International Parents for Drug Free Youth Award in 1990 and the YWCA Woman of the Year Award in 1985. Ms. Opheim has been appointed for a term of three years and she replaces Ms. Patti Pacholek from Regina, Saskatchewan, whose term had expired after serving almost seven years on the Board of Trustees.

The Canada Science and Technology Museum Corporation is responsible for preserving and protecting Canada’s scientific and technological heritage and promoting and sharing knowledge about that heritage.
