Since 1998, the Francommunautés virtuelles Program has called
upon the services of many members of the Francophone and Acadian
communities throughout Canada to keep Program activities running
smoothly and, primarily, to make certain that funded projects
reflect the needs and realities of these communities.
All of the Committee members have a thorough knowledge of advanced technology and the issues facing Canada's French-speaking
population. This makes it easier for them to consider the
French-language information and communications technology
(ICT) development prospects. They have the dual task of faithfully
representing the Francophones of their respective provinces
and of sharing their recommendations with Francommunautés
virtuelles Program officials. The fact that they are neutral
and impartial makes them excellent representatives of the
Francophone and Acadian communities of Canada.
Over the years, the guidance provided by members of various
committees has resulted in government decisions that have
preserved and ensured the smooth operation of the Francommunautés virtuelles Program. The French language has continued to flourish in this country in no small part because of their commitment, perseverance, desire, and dedication.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to these individuals who, from
the very beginning, have given freely of their time to enhance
the credibility of the Program you know today. Their efforts have made it possible for thousands of Francophones and Acadians
throughout Canada to continue to receive services in French
that are adapted to their needs.
