The Francommunautés virtuelles program received funding for five years in 2003, under the Action Plan for Official Languages of the Government of Canada. Three competitions for funding have been held since 2003.

The last competition, which closed on November 24, 2006, allowed Industry Canada to select 26 projects. The list of recipients will soon be posted.

Funding for the program ends on March 31, 2008. No further competition for funding is planned at the present time.
