Canadian Children's Museum invites children to brave The Big Adventure

Hull, Quebec, November 26, 1999 — The excitement begins on December 4, 1999 when the Canadian Children's Museum opens a new exhibition called The Big Adventure. Visitors are invited to experience a wonderfully wacky challenge game of fun-filled and action-packed adventures. This is the opportunity for young minds and bodies to test their limits, challenge their brain power and try out activities that teach them to dare, all in a fun and innovative setting.

The Big Adventure is produced by The Children's Museum of Houston for the members of the Youth Museum Exhibit Collaborative, a partnership of leading children's museums across North America, of which the Canadian Children's Museum is an active member.

Designed for children aged 5 years or more, The Big Adventure provides a unique and challenging environment that tests their physical and mental limits. Hands-on activities will entice participants to choose from adventures that tempt each child to solve problems, make decisions, set goals and gain confidence. While learning to work and play together, visitors to this exciting and unique exhibition will embark on their quest, power their imagination, and accomplish mental and physical feats beyond what they thought possible. Known as "adventure education," this approach promotes successful learning with a "real world" connection.

While exploring Adventure Mountain and The Tunnels of Fun, visitors can climb a six-foot wall of rocks, crawl through dark tunnels and reach the Crow's Nest to view the many adventures spread out below. From there, young guests can decide to be brave at Out on a Ledge, to discover what it feels like to be three floors up in the air and moving between buildings on a thin beam. Kids can dare to look down, where the firemen are ready to catch. But the challenge is for children to keep their balance and their smarts so they can make it safely to the other side! Then there is the Virtual Flyer, a child-size airplane that can be flown with friends. Working together, the flight crew will dodge flying saucers, hot-air balloons, ducks, mountains and even an oversized monster looking for dinner.

Running until April 2000, The Big Adventure promises not only to be adventurous, but to encourage children to have the confidence to seek opportunities for adventure in the world around them. Children shouldn't miss this opportunity to scale new heights of fun and excitement. All adventures are free with regular admission.
