The Broughton Island facility may include a bunkhouse (again depending on staff needs) which could accommodate 2 people. There is no running water and only a small garage for work/storage of gear. Three Warden Patrol Cabins along the southern portion of Akshayak Pass may be able to serve as base camps for short-term field work. There is limited/no room for storage of samples or gear. The nearest park access is 30 km from Pangnirtung.
Permitting is required for all research conducted in the park. Proposals are to be sent to the Chief Park Warden. Permits may also be required for work conducted on Nunavut lands. Contact the Nunavut Research Institute at (867) 979-6734 for further details.
