Forms

In an attempt to streamline and simplify the application process, we have created a new application form.  Every applicant will use our new “Polar Shelf Logistics Application Form.”

Please be sure to contact us with any questions or concerns.

PLEASE NOTE

PCSP must receive your completed application by midnight (Eastern Standard Time) Tuesday, November 06 2007.  Late applications will not be accepted.

Bear in mind that you may be required to cover some or all costs of PCSP services.

International Polar Year

For those undertaking IPY research programs, please submit a letter of endorsement from either the lead of the internationally approved program in which you are involved, and/or the Canadian IPY National Committee, along with your application forms.

All Applicants

  • All applicants must complete the Polar Shelf Logistics Application Form.

Only one original of each application form is required.  E-mail applications will be accepted as originals.

When research programs are being conducted in conjunction with partners outside your agency or sector, please make reference to these collaborations in your application so that we can plan accordingly.

If we can be of any help to you in planning your field program, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.

It is essential that you and all members of your team read all the material related to this applications package and all the follow-up material sent to you with our Letter of Support.

  • For those submitting/involved in more than one program applying for PCSP support, please rank them in order of priority to help PCSP in its planning.
  • PCSP extends support and bases its budget, schedules & plans on what is requested in applications received in the fall.  PCSP cannot guarantee any additional or subsequent logistics services can be provided - e.g. additional equipment requests, additional room and board for research project team members who are not shown on applications, aircraft availability if field dates change without considerable advance notice or if field program teams and hence, logistics requirements, are different than those shown in applications.   Should PCSP, by chance, be able to provide any such additional services, it will be on a full cost-recovery basis in all cases (aircraft, equipment, food & lodging etc.).
  • PCSP will make its services available only to those programs/activities which have been approved through the formal applications process each fall.
  • PCSP support is based on the research project descriptions as provided in applications; should field research programs change, PCSP must be advised in writing well in advance.  If not, support provided in response to what is requested in original applications - and subsequently based on a project that may no longer be valid - will be withdrawn.
  • As per PCSP's Conditions of Support - PCSP reserves the right to withdraw services should field programs not take any and all possible steps to ensure the safety and security of their personnel.
  • PCSP, under Canadian environmental assessment laws, must assess and determine whether each field project it supports may require an environmental assessment.  Please ensure you complete the enclosed checklist and be aware that you may be required to undertake a full environmental assessment of your field activities; if so, PCSP will advise you and guide you on how to take the necessary steps.
