The Post Goes Pop
From: November 10, 2006 To: March 8, 2009 |
Postal symbols are commonly used in both mail and popular culture, appearing in advertising, film, song and a thousand and one objects — to say nothing of their starring role in the world of computers. The primary theme of this exhibition is, firstly, to look at the role that the postal service has played in daily life and, secondly, to see how postal symbols have come to represent and express the values and activities of contemporary society. Visitors will also see that, although the importance of mail in its traditional form has diminished, postal symbols remain significant, and continue to occupy an important place in the popular culture.
