Treasures of Quebec Folk Art (working title)
This exhibition covers three centuries of Quebec creation, from 1700 to 2000 mainly through the exceptional collection of Quebec folk art assembled by Nettie Covey Sharpe. Mrs. Sharpe was an anglophone who loved French Canada, and was a pioneer in the preservation of Quebec’s heritage, whose aesthetic value she appreciated enormously. Acquired between 1977 and 1993, the pieces in her collection comprise one of the largest and most prestigious collections of folk art in Canada, and feature some of the most respected artists in the field.
