Provincial Health Insurance Premium Rate Increases - British Columbia
and Alberta
The Medical Services Plan of British Columbia (B.C.) and the Alberta Health
Care Plan are increasing their monthly premium rates.
The employer will contribute 50 per cent of the increased provincial premiums
on the employee's behalf.
As B.C. premiums are remitted one month in advance, the employee and employer
share of the B.C. premium must be increased effective April 1, 2002,
for coverage from May 1, 2002.
Alberta's premiums are remitted concurrently, therefore the employee and
employer share of the Alberta premium will be increased effective April
1, 2002, for coverage from April 1, 2002.
These premium rate changes are reflected in this bulletin, as well as in the Provincial
Health Insurance Plans.
All employees in Alberta and B.C. should be immediately informed of these
changes to their monthly salary deductions.
