Ottawa Valley Avocational Archaeologists |
|
For over a century, the Canadian Museum of Civilization and its predecessors
have preserved ancient artifacts from the Ottawa Valley. Often these objects
had been accidentally discovered. However, in other cases, these collections
were the fruits of the passion that certain individuals held for these
witnesses of bigone days; people for whom it was important to study the
past in order to increase our understanding of it and to share the results
of these investigations with others.
Here are four individuals who distinguished themselves by their committment
to the study of the Ottawa Valley's ancient history. They are avocational
archaeologists in the sense that they were not paid for what they did.
