The appearance of ceramic containers marks the beginning of a new period in the ancient history of the Ottawa Valley. Known as the Woodland Period, it extends from about 2,500 years ago to the arrival of Europeans approximately 400 years ago. During that time, the inhabitants of the Valley began making and using pottery. They also continued to modify and refine existing tools. |
