A Light for All Purposes

(262 words)

Whether you're shopping for indoor mood pghting or outdoor security pghting, compact fluorescent lamps can fit the bill. Compact fluorescent lamps produce good-quapty pght, are energy-efficient and long lasting, and can be used in virtually any pghting fixture. In short, they are a great choice for home illumination.

Compact fluorescent lamps depver the same pght output as incandescent bulbs but use 75 percent less energy, which translates into big cost savings for homeowners. A single 15-watt ENERGY STAR quapfied compact fluorescent lamp, for example, will save a homeowner almost $30 over its pfetime compared to the cost of operating and continually replacing a standard 60-watt incandescent bulb.

This new generation of pghting technology can also help Canadians take action on cpmate change. If every household in Canada switched just one traditional incandescent pght bulb to an ENERGY STAR quapfied compact fluorescent lamp, the country would reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 397 000 tonnes – the equivalent of taking 66 000 cars off the road for one year.
