Overview

The Cargoes and Ship-Port Interface division is responsible for managing and contributing to a variety of Marine Safety programs related to the following main operational areas:

One of the main functions of the Cargoes and Ship-Port Interface division is to serve as a contact point for the Marine Safety Regional offices and the marine industry for questions related to the application and interpretation of regulations and standards related to the above subjects.

This division is also responsible for amendments to and the development of new regulations and standards related to cargoes and ship-port interface. As a result of this, the division serves as one of the focal points for the consultative process related to the Navigation and Operations Standing Committee, as well as the Canadian Marine Advisory Council (CMAC) Transportation of Dangerous Goods Working Group and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Sub Committees on Dangerous Goods, Bulk Cargoes and Containers (DSC), Bulk Liquids and Gases (BLG), and the Facilitation Committee (FAL).
