What This Course is About

The intent of this Course is to provide introductory training to PIA managers on how to effectively manage the process of completing a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) and co-ordinate the efforts of various key personnel who will be involved in such a project. Secondary audiences include PIA Practitioners and other Government of Canada (GoC) personnel.

The main topics of the Course are:

• An introduction covering the key concepts involved with PIAs. This is Module 1, Privacy Fundamentals.
• A description of Privacy Impact Assessments, along with a discussion of the key stakeholders in the PIA process. This is found in Module 2—PIAs.
• An overview of the entire PIA process, along with tips to help you manage a PIA project. This is found in Module 3.
• Two glossaries. The first is a glossary of key terms. The second glossary is a listing of web addresses. In your 'travels' through the Course, you will have come across most, if not all, of these terms and web addresses.
