The Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat is pleased to welcome you to their Privacy Impact Assessment
(PIA) e-learning tool. For any Government of Canada employees interested in learning more about privacy or PIAs and how to complete them, this tool will be of great interest.
There are two courses included in this tool—the Overview and the Manage and Monitor course. As well, TBS has developed a PIA Assistant to help you complete Preliminary PIAs and full PIAs.
If you are responsible for managing a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) project, consider reviewing this course. Like the Overview course, this one also reviews some of the key concepts related to PIAs—the legislation and policy and the key stakeholders—but the information is not nearly as detailed as in the Overview course.
The big difference between this course and the Overview course is the review of the PIA process. Not only is the entire PIA process discussed, but as well, the course presents many useful tips and techniques (generated from the 'best practices' of GoC personnel involved in PIA projects) that will help you manage, co-ordinate and monitor a PIA project.
