The Victorian Era Ball, Toronto
December 28, 1897


In Toronto in 1897, over the course of a six-week visit to the city, Lady Aberdeen organized her second major fancy dress ball. This time her theme was the benefits of Canada's connection to Britain, an appropriate celebration for the year of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, and one taking place in Canada's most imperialistic city.
