More In Conversation : Lakehead U LecturesHistory of the Residential School Program. Dr. Robert Robson, Associate Professor in the Department of Indigenous Learning, will provide an overview of the history of the residential school program in Canada from 1620 through to the closure of the last government supported residential school in 1996. His talk will be followed by a poster presentation and discussion around research recently conducted by third-year Lakehead University students. Some consideration will also be given to the post-closure era of reconciliation, acknowledging there is a continuing cause for action in order to adequately address the issues associated with the ongoing legacy of the residential school program.

Their homes have crude stoves, holes in the walls and floors, and no sewage lines, heating or insulation.
