Certain Waters of Tasu Sound adjacent to Moresby Island, Queen Charlotte District,
British Columbia, exempt from operation of sections 18, 19 and 20 of the Act

ELIZABETH THE SECOND, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom, Canada and Her other
Realms and Territories QUEEN, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith.
TO ALL TO WHOM these Presents shall come or whom the same may in anywise
concern,--Greeting:
DONALD S. MAXWELL,
Deputy Attorney General,
Canada.
WHEREAS in and by section 22 of the Navigable Waters Protection Act, being chapter 193
of the Revised Statutes of Canada, 1952, as amended, it is provided that the Governor in
Council may, from time to time, by proclamation, declare certain navigable rivers, streams
or waters, or part or parts thereof, exempted, in whole or in part, from the operation of
those sections 18, 19 and 20 of the said Act.
AND WHEREAS application has been made by Wesfrob Mines Limited for permission to dump
cobbing plant reject and mill tailings in certain waters of Tasu Sound adjacent to Moresby
Island, Queen Charlotte District, in the Province of British Columbia, as shown on Plan
03116-0, dated November, 1968 on record in the Department of Transport.
AND WHEREAS it has been shown to the satisfaction of His Excellency the Governor
General in Council that the public interest would not be injuriously affected by reason of
the action proposed in the said application.
NOW KNOW YE that We by and with the advice of Our Privy Council for Canada, do by this
Our Proclamation declare the said waters to be exempted from the operation of sections 18,
19 and 20 of the Navigable Waters Protection Act.
OF ALL WHICH Our Loving Subjects and all others whom these Presents may concern are
hereby required to take notice and to govern themselves accordingly.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF We have caused these Our Letters to be made Patent and the Great
Seal of Canada to be hereunto affixed. WITNESS: Our Right Trusty and Well-beloved
Counsellor, ROLAND MICHENER, Chancellor and Principal Companion of Our Order of Canada
upon whom We have conferred Our Canadian Forces' Decoration, Governor General and
Commander-in-Chief of Canada.
AT OUR GOVERNMENT HOUSE, in Our City of Ottawa, this twenty-eighth day of May in the
year of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred and sixty-nine and in the eighteenth year of
Our Reign.
