This Week on Quirks & Quarks
Baboon Metaphysics
What do movie stars, royalty, and baboons have in common? They're all the subject of intense interest to those around them. As a species, humans are tremendously fascinated with the lives of others. That's why there are so many gossip magazines on the grocery store shelves. And we're not alone. Baboons are equally interested in gossip, but for them, it can mean the difference between survival or failure. We'll meet a scientist who's spent the last fifteen years living and working in Africa, where she's studied baboons and their fascination with gossip. By learning about their minds, she's been able to uncover some of the origins of our own way of thinking.
Plus - shedding light on the Aurora Borealis; and Canada's Scientist of the Year...
All this and more on Quirks & Quarks, with host Bob McDonald, Saturday right after the noon news on Radio One, or anytime on our web page.
AND NOW a second opportunity to hear Quirks & Quarks - every Monday night at 11pm on Radio One.
