Princess of Acadia The Digby – Saint John Ferry Service has experienced significant challenges during the past few years, including large increases in fuel and insurance costs, and a considerable decline in tourism traffic. Recognizing the importance of the service, the federal government partnered with the Provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia to provide the current Operator with short-term financial assistance until January 31, 2009. During this interim period, the current service will be maintained while the federal government works with stakeholders to explore viable options for a ferry service between Digby and Saint John in the context of regional transportation requirements.
