Clothing and textile series continues with batik workshop in the Canadian Children's Museum

Gatineau, Quebec, November 3, 2006 - The Canadian Children's Museum, located in the Canadian Museum of Civilization, invites you to try the ancient textile art of batik as part of a series of workshops that explore different aspects of clothing and textile design from around the world.

On the weekend of November 11 and 12, learn about Indonesian batik designs and their meanings. Batik textile art, which is widely made in Indonesia, involves drawing wax patterns on fabric, colouring the material, and then removing the wax to reveal the drawn pattern. Participants will have a chance try this fun technique to make a unique creation to take home. More workshops in this series will be announced later this fall.
