Labelling and Promotional Guidelines for ENERGY STAR^® Qualified Windows‚ Doors and Skylights Sold in Canada

These guidelines supplement the Full Guidelines for Reproducing, Applying and Using the International ENERGY STAR Symbol in Canada , published by Natural Resources Canada's (NRCan) Office of Energy Efficiency (OEE). In addition to complying with the full guidelines, Participants in the Canadian ENERGY STAR window and sliding glass door initiative must also meet the requirements set out in this document.

Participants should therefore review both the full guidelines and this document in detail before developing ENERGY STAR labels or promotional materials for qualifying window and sliding glass door products.

This document is divided into two main sections:

Labelling Guidelines

Promotional Guidelines

Each section details the correct use of the NRCan graphic templates, as well as the specifications for customizing them. Although Participants are encouraged to use these templates, they may customize them only if they include all the required elements and conform to the guidelines set out in this document.

For windows and doors sold in Canada, the ENERGY STAR technical specifications and guidelines, which include labelling, are not the same as those for products sold in the United States. This is due to the differences in the industry between Canada and the United States, as well as the two countries different climatic conditions and performance standards.
