Energy Efficiency Ratings

Internally Lighted Exit Signs

Be sure to specify the exit sign's characteristics in order to compare similar products - the lower the total power demand, the lower the energy costs.

Replacing a single word incandescent exit sign at 30 watts with one that meets the current 2005 regulatory requirement at 5 watts means energy savings of 245 kWh/year. Based on 10 years of service, this conversion to an LED 120-volt sign has a simple payback of less than a year.
