Boards of Referees Policy and Administration Pursuant to section 111 of the Employment Insurance Act and section 78 of the Regulations

7. CONCLUSION

This policy guideline is intended to result in an efficient appeal service to the public. Adherence to these guidelines by the Board Centres and Regional Offices will lead to consistent administration of the EI appeal system, while maintaining and respecting the independence of the Boards of Referees.

NOTE:

This policy guideline has been prepared by the Appeals Directorate in consultation with the Minister's Office and the Commissioners. Adherence to these guidelines is required unless otherwise authorized by National Headquarters.

Information contained in this document is descriptive of circumstances in which a chairperson and/or member may be suspended or removed from office. However, other circumstances may arise that would warrant remedial action.
