Pension Commission

Welcome to the Manitoba Pension Commission. This web site is intended to summarize our legislative requirements, procedures and policies on a general basis. The Pension Benefits Act and Regulation should be consulted for specific legislative requirements.

The Pension Commission provides its clients and stakeholders, through its internet site, with written material to enhance their understanding of The Pension Benefits Act and Regulation.

The Pension Commission promotes the advantages of private pension plans and assist both employees and employers in understanding these plans. The staff assist employees by explaining how pension related legislation affects them and answer questions regarding plan provisions. The Pension Commission encourages and assists plan sponsors, trustees and administrators to establish, maintain and improve their pension plans. The branch carries out a variety of activities to see that the requirements of the Pension Benefits Act are met.

Please note, both the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS) are administered by the federal government. For further information on the CPP and OAS phone 1-800-277-9914.
