Classroom Courses for Supervisors

Suite of complementary courses for supervisors:

The School has developed a suite of complementary courses designed to help public service supervisors succeed. Each offering in the suite can stand on its own; however, they were designed to be taken in a specific order, with each course building on the last.

The first in the series is The Essentials of Supervising in the Public Service (G124) which is mandatory for all supervisors who may have to exercise delegated authorities. It examines the policies, statutory instruments, obligations and frameworks that govern public service practices and behaviours. It explores how accountability, responsibility, due diligence, values and ethics are integrated into our decision-making and activities to help us achieve our goals.

The second in the series is Theories, Techniques and Tools of Supervision (G501) which delves into the concepts, practices and tools that supervisors can use to improve their own performance and that of their staff.

The Practice of Supervision: A Workshop (G125) is the third course in the series. It is activity-based and encourages participants to apply the knowledge and theories learned in the previous courses.
