The Board was announced last month to advise the Minister on matters relating to the export of Canadian education products and services. Sheldon Levy, President of Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario, was appointed as the Board's first Chair.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">"I believe there is great potential to increase Canada's share of the international market for educational services," said Minister Marchi. "I was delighted to see Mr. Levy and the other members of the Board go right to work to identify priorities for our international education marketing activities, and I thank them for their participation."</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">At yesterday's meeting, the Board established working groups to address the following topics:</font></p> <ul> <li><font face="Arial"> <p>recruitment of international students;</font></p> <li><font face="Arial"> <p>market information;</font></p> <li><font face="Arial"> <p>access to funding from International Financial Institutions (IFIs); and</font></p> <li><font face="Arial"> <p>technology-mediated learning.</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">"I have taken note of these priorities," said Mr. Marchi. "My officials and I look forward to further guidance from the Board as we continue to work with our colleagues in the provinces, the education community and our posts abroad to bring a Team Canada approach to the international marketing of Canada's education and training services."</font></p> <p><font face="Arial">The full Advisory Board will meet again in six months.
