More news on Wildlife Enforcement

The enforcement of wildlife protection legislation in Canada is shared between the provincial and federal governments. In Ontario, Game Officers enforce federal wildlife laws and Conservation Officers enforce provincial wildlife laws. To ensure that wildlife are well protected, Game Officers are designated to enforce both federal and provincial wildlife protection laws. Conservation Officers enforce the federal laws pertaining to migratory bird conservation. Often, the two agencies work jointly on wildlife enforcement matters.

Game Officers perform on-site inspections and investigations, and patrol the province to protect wild plants and animals from illegal hunting and over-exploitation.

Everyone can play a role in wildlife conservation in Ontario.
