Canada's northern ecosystems and wildlife are feeling the
effects of climate change, the accumulation of chemical pollution
and natural resource development. There are things we can
do to help conserve the wildlife that live there. Start by
visiting the Canadian Wildlife Federation's National
Wildlife Week *
website for information about Canada's north.
This year's northern theme coincides with International Polar
Year (2007-2008), an international effort involving more than
60 countries and scientists from all over the world. They're
striving to get a better understanding of conditions in the
Earth's polar regions and how they influence the oceans, atmosphere
and lands. Check it out at www.ipy-api.gc.ca *.
The Canadian Wildlife Federation, a non-government
organization, leads a national education program during National
Wildlife Week. Click the logo on the left to visit their website and find out more.
The week is planned in collaboration
with a core group of organizations who aim to promote wildlife
and habitat conservation. Click here to check out our team:
