EXPANDED ALLERGY ALERT

UNDECLARED MILK IN CHARLEMAGNE CHOCOLATIERS BIO ORGANIC CHOCOLATES

OTTAWA, October 12, 2007 - The public warning issued on October 6, 2007 has been expanded to include two additional products, the Pepper Bio Organic and the Plain sugar free chocolate.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to milk protein not to consume Charlemagne Chocolatiers Bio Organic Chocolates described below. The affected products may contain milk which is not declared on the label.

All Batch codes and Best Before dates of the following Charlemagne Chocolatiers Chocolates, imported from Belgium are affected by this alert:

These products are known to have been distributed in Quebec and Ontario but may have been distributed nationally.

There has been one reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to milk protein.

The importer is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
