This is the combined total income of all family members, while the median income of individuals was $22 120. Between 1990 and 2000 median family income increased by $456, an increase of 9%. In the same decade individual median income in 1990 was $23 235, a decrease of 4.8% between 1990 and 2000.

Total income from the 2001 Census of Population refers to the total money income received from the following sources during the calendar year 2000 by persons 15 years of age and over:

Earnings

  • wages and salaries (total)
  • net farm income
  • net non-farm income from unincorporated business and/or professional practice

Government Transfer Payments

  • Canada Child Tax benefits
  • Old Age Security pension and Guaranteed Income Supplement
  • benefits from Canada or Quebec Pension Plan
  • benefits from Employment Insurance
  • other income from government sources

Other Income

  • dividends, interest on bonds, deposits and savings certificates, and other investment income
  • retirement pensions, superannuation and annuities, including those from RRSPs(Registered Retirement Savings Plans) and RRIFs(Registered Retirement Income Funds)
  • other money income
