Industry Energy Research and Development Program

Thank you for your interest in the IERD program. The program is currently being wound down and is no longer considering new projects at this time. A similar program is being formed and should be made available in the spring of 2008. Further information is available at ecoENERGY Technology Initiative.

Projects that have received support under the program include the development of the following:

• energy efficient fireplaces and space heaters;
• large, highly efficient industrial electric motors;
• highly efficiency refrigeration compressors;
• a process for recycling used crankcase and lube oils;
• toroidal transmission for diesel generator set; and
• high performance automotive parts using powder metallurgy.

IERD is administered by the CANMET Energy Technology Centre-Ottawa, a branch of Natural Resources Canada, and is one of several federal energy efficiency programs.
