Since April 1998, Transport Canada established a not-for-profit cost recovery program for its aviation-activity forecasts under which only subscribers can access them.

Transport Canada's forecasting system is unique in Canada, consisting of a number of interrelated state -of-the-art models that draw on data from numerous sources including government, private firms, the airline industry and international organizations.

All forecast requests are handled by an efficient project management system that ensures that products are completed to high standards, on time and within budget. On-the-shelf products include annual forecasts of air passengers and aircraft movements for some 77 airports in Canada. Subscriber's specific forecast requirements can also be accommodated.

This program is particularly relevant to airport authorities, airlines, aircraft manufactures, financial institutions, aviation consultants and any person/organization who need independent and objective forecasts based on a systems approach to help in planning and decision-making.
